ANAMIST CATTERY

"Elegant and Intelligent"

At Anamist we are always endeavoring to develop our lines true to the breed standard with our Persian Chinchilla, Shaded Silvers, and our QFA approved experimental Burmilla programme.

Health means everything at Anamistl and all my cats are PKD tested CLEAR and registered with the QFA.

Why are we SPECIAL?
We raise all our kittens inside under foot.
We do NOT have avery style areas outside, all our cats are in normal house style situations and are interacted with like any normal pet home. They have some separated rooms which are still entirely decked out as if they are inside, and are still socialised with for large amounts of the day and at night given a free run of larger areas in the house.

Why I know what I'm talking about...
After owning chinchillas and burmese for the entirety of my life as pets, it was just a natural progression to eventually decide that i wanted to play my part in the continuance of these stunning breeds.

I am currently involved in a course with the QFA to teach me the systems required to steward and ticket writer at the shows. I am also a firm believer that there is no better way to give back to an association that gives so much itself, than to work and assist in the shows we present our cats in.  I am very grateful to all the QFA representatives that have given there valuable knowledge and time in teaching me these skills and are motoring me in the world of cat fancy.

Persians have a thick lushious coat that does need daily grooming, i find that to pick up the brush as you pat them in front of the tv, is as rewarding and relaxing for them as myself and a great way to unwind at night.  Even the short coated cats adore such pampering ...think how great you feel after a foot rub or the difference you feel when knotted hair is made smooth and tangle free ...grooming is essential to maintaining a calm and relaxed cat and kitten both physically and emotionally.

Here is our cattery...our cats and kittens are in the two front rooms in the day and are welcome members of our family inside the house, in the night when the doors are closed.

What is a Chinchilla or Shaded Silver Persian?
Chinchillas are different to a white persian, as the Chinchilla has black eye liner or penciling and around its nose, green eyes.  They have a thick long flowing coat with luxurious full, soft wooly undercoat hairs with longer coarser guard hairs they are a thicker bodied cat which is in show talk called 'cobby' They have solid chunky legs.  Stunning Round eyes are framed by a round face with small ears.

Persians are quiet, gentle and unassuming cats. They are calm and independent and very affectionate. Persian's are described as serene natured they usually get on well with other pets and are great with children that are not too boisterous . They are stunning lap cats. They are not over talkative. Persians are playful but not demanding and they are very devoted loving pets.

The difference between a Shaded Silver and a Chinchilla is the length of the black tipping or shading at the end of the white hair. Chinchillas are now known as a "Black Tipped Persian" the Shaded Silvers have slightly more black on the hair and appear a little darker they also have some gray up the back of their hocks (legs)

The show "Type" Chinni or Shaded Silver Persian is very much flatter in its face in comparison to the old traditional shape, here at Shinners Regal we breed both styles.

What is a Burmilla?
A Burmilla is a combination of a Burmese and a Chinchilla Persian. This mating of crossing the breeds is only done once (the first time) from then on the now generation burmilla is mated to another first generation Burmilla to produce a 2nd generation, this continues so on and so on until a fifth generation is achieved..this is considered a true Burmilla. As this is only a relative new breed and still in the experimental breed process lower generations are still very common and necessary for the continuance and strengthen on the breed. Smoke colors rarely appear past first and second generation litters.

The further along the generations the cat will appear more to type: tabby markings fade to a light dusting of color, good green eye color is present and the facial features and eyeliners etc should be true.

So far we have started three new lines and are working on our forth at present. Keep an eye out for their developments.
